Washington Post heralds Gov. Herbert as “most popular”
While much of the national media focuses on governors with potential presidential aspirations, The Washington Post recently turned the spotlight to America’s most popular governor.
“The most popular governor in the country?” the headline asked. “You’ve probably never heard of him.”
More than any other governor in his or her respective state, Gov. Gary R. Herbert enjoys high approval ratings with his constituents.
Chris Cillizza, who contributes to the Posts’s political blog, The Fix, writes:
“A poll last month showed Herbert’s favorable rating at a sterling 73 percent, and he destroys all potential 2016 opponents in a head-to-head matchup. Yes, this was the reddest state in the 2012 election, but Herbert’s popularity even outpaces his predecessors.”
Gov. Herbert is in Washington, D.C. for the National Governors Association (NGA) winter meetings. The interaction with other governors provides the opportunity to learn from the successes and mistakes of other states and to share the secrets to Utah’s economic success and how conservative principles guide his decisions on a variety of issues.
Gov. Herbert currently serves on the executive committee of the NGA. You can find the full article HERE.
